Students should review the study guide, reread the chapter summary, and practice flashcards. Anything that was on the study guide will be on the test. Also, students should NOT depend solely on the flashcards. They should review and reread the study guide too.
The Social Studies goal for the fifth grade is for students to gain an understanding of the history of our country. Throughout the year, in every unit, students learn to interpret information. Fifth graders study the history of the development from the early North American Civilizations, to the growth of the United States through the Westward Movement.
Major units of study include Explorers, Colonization, Revolutionary War and Westward Movement. Within the Social Studies curriculum, we incorporate creative expression (written, oral, and artistic). Study skills include note taking, outlining, and conducting research, tests and quizzes.
